Our first RV was like this one.

  • A crowded RV park

How we got started...

A long time ago, we logically got interested in buying an RV. We wanted to travel and camp, plus we wanted a warm and dry place to sleep. We'd had enough of tents leaking and falling apart in windy rainstorms. We eventually bought an RV similar to the one shown here. We thought everything would be great.

Soon, we discovered major problems. It guzzled gas. It was way too big for most campsites, so we had to camp in paved RV parks, right up against other RVs. These places weren't the quiet idyllic campgrounds with trees and birds that we'd imagined. In order to use electricity in the RV, our noisy generator had to run all the time. Our neighbor's RV had to do the same thing. It was extremely difficult to maneuver that RV on winding mountain roads. We also found out that even newer RVs lacked most of the safety features that we'd gotten used to in our car, like a backup camera (Blindly backing up a huge RV was no fun). Plus, we know it's minor, but the multi-colored exteriors and crazy stripes on both old and new RVs were just plain ugly. Eventually, we decided to create the RVs of our dreams, free of these problems. And that's how DreamVans was born.

And now, with our DreamVan...

DreamVans have efficient engines and Intelligent 4 wheel drive, so we don't need to limit our travels. We don't have to run a noisy generator while we camp, either. With our large solar systems and high-capacity batteries, we can enjoy the quiet sounds of nature surrounding our campsite. For our piece of mind, DreamVans are equipped with a full array of advanced safety systems, including a back up camera, of course. See the Our Models page for more details of all of these systems.

Additionally, any of our DreamVans will fit in any standard campsite, so we have a lot more choice in places to camp. These days, you'll probably find us at one of our favorite places.

1. The National Parks.

Some have nice, quiet RV campgrounds in or near the parks. This includes places like Yosemite, Yellowstone, Lake Powell, etc.

2. RV campgrounds in state/county/city parks.

Many of these are really nice and are less crowded than parks that are more well-known.

3. National Forest campsites.

We love the quiet and solitude of camping in a National Forest. These typically run $10/night, without hookups for fresh water and electricity. On long trips, we generally stay for several days in National Forests, then spend a night in an RV campground to take showers and empty and fill our water tanks.

4. National Forest dispersed campsites.

These are great places to get off the beaten path. Camping there is free, but not all available places are documented. See https://freecampsites.net/ for more information.

5. RV-specific campgrounds.
Occasionally, we camp in them or in campsites that include hookups for power, water and/or sewage.

DreamVans is a fictional recreational vehicle manufacturer. If it were real, it would feature the best ideas and the best technology in the global RV industry today. These innovations have been combined into the models shown on this site. To keep things simple, these DreamVans are all based on the gasoline powered Ford Transit commercial van. Ford Transit features are gathered from various Transit models around the globe. This site uses information and photos from several sources, and photos may not reflect details of a particular brand.
